Hazardous wastes are materials that pose risks to human health and the environment if they are not disposed of appropriately – they are generated from industry, hospitals and households.

Hazardous waste includes corrosive waste, ignitable waste, leachate toxic waste, reactive waste, pathological waste, polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) waste, radioactive waste, and listed wastes in Regulation 347 under Ontario’s Environmental Protection Act (EPA).
