New CWRC Keynote Presentation Announced

Canada’s Biggest EPR initiative: Developing a Plan to Transition to EPR for Paper Products and Packaging in Ontario.

Ontario has initiated the planning process towards a transition from shared responsibility to producer responsibility for paper products and packaging. This is the biggest EPR initiative nation-wide. If approved, the amended Blue Box plan will establish the approach by which producers will assume the responsibility for collection and management of PPP their emerging relationship with municipal and private sector service providers towards achieving a 75% diversion rate in Ontario. The issues are complex and the size or the program components create unique challenges. The transitional amended Blue Box plan will ultimately give way to a full Individual Producer Responsibility (IPR) framework in the future
