WHAT IS OWMA?

OWMA is an industry association - our purpose is to protect and expand the business interests of the private sector and member companies in providing the full range of waste & recycling services to the residents and businesses of Ontario. Our members are good 'corporate citizens' who provide valued, reliable waste management services. OWMA members are active in waste & recycling collection, transfer and processing; hazardous waste management; organics collection and processing (composting and digestion); and disposal (landfill and incineration) for both the public sector and the IC & I sector. The OWMA membership is comprised of over 185 public and private companies providing service across Ontario.

5 GREAT REASONS TO JOIN

Strength in Numbers - A Voice in Government
All levels of government recognize the OWMA as the 'voice' of the private sector waste industry in Ontario. We monitor and assess regulatory and policy initiatives to determine their impact on the industry and on your business. We provide members with advance notice of new or changing government initiatives, and work proactively to ensure that such initiatives are justified, simple, and practical to implement.

OWMA also actively protects the business interests of member companies and promotes public sector recognition of the proven 'track record' of the private sector in providing cost-effective, reliable waste management services.

Access to Information
OWMA members receive regular information updates regarding most important waste management and business issues. Electronic and fax newsletters, bulletins and fact sheets keep members informed and knowledgeable. Tender notices are forwarded to members at the request of municipalities and IC & I service inquiries are provided with a reference list of local OWMA service providers.

Good Advice
OWMA provides members with valued, professional advice on regulatory and environmental management issues affecting their business. Members can also draw upon the experience and professional expertise of OWMA committees and task groups for assistance and support. OWMA is a 'repository' for collective industry experience - an issue facing a member may already have been resolved by another member - access the collective industry experience to your benefit.

Recognition

OWMA promotes members as 'the best in the industry' with municipalities, government and IC & I business groups - enhancing business opportunities for members. OWMA provides members with visibility opportunities through advertising, sponsorships and media promotion.

Know Your Industry and Your Suppliers
OWMA provides opportunities through social and business events for the exchange of information and experiences amongst industry peers. OWMA events often contain a blend of educational and social objectives - get to know the industry and get to know the people that can benefit your business.
