2024 Industry Innovation Award Winner: GFL Enviromental Inc.

We want to congratulate GFL Environmental Inc. as our Industry Innovation Award Winner for their Brant St Electric Arc Furnace Dust (EAFD) Recycling Project.

In partnership with Cobric Chemicals Inc., GFL has introduced a proprietary High Temperature Metal Recovery (HTMR) technology to recycle EAFD into valuable zinc, supporting Canadian green industry initiatives.

This innovative technology, based in Hamilton, Ontario, offers a sustainable solution to EAFD disposal, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% compared to the best available technology.

The project minimizes reliance on hazardous waste landfills, decreases energy and water consumption, and reduces CO2 emissions from long-distance hauling. GFL's efforts are setting a new standard in recycling efficiency and environmental stewardship, effectively closing the loop in the steel manufacturing industry.

2024 Community Builder Award Winner: TRY Recycling Inc.

We want to congratulate tag TRY Recycling Inc. as our Community Builder Award Winner!

The Graham Family Eco Park used to be a gravel pit. Through many pain staking hours of labour and love, it has become a revitalized ecological sanctuary covering 26-acres that embraces environmental principles and supports a variety of ecosystems.

This space is accessible and is a welcoming environment that is used to promote environmental awareness and conservation. There is a wooded area with plants, birds, insects, and various mammals, plus a pond with fish, birds, reptiles and insects. These are important areas of our communities as they aid in preserving natural habitats and advocate for sustainable living.

The Graham Family Eco Park opens its doors to not-for-profit groups to enjoy the campground, picnic areas, and the overall grounds where they can hike, bird watch, fish, immerse themselves in nature and disconnect from everyday life.
