With just over a year until the transition of the Blue Box recycling system from municipalities to producer responsibility begins, it is imperative that the rule-making process for Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs) move forward as quickly as possible so that proper planning can occur. OWMA does not support any amendments to the Blue Box regulation that would create uncertainty for public and private waste service providers and residential customers. OWMA looks forward to working with the Ontario government and other stakeholders to promote a robust and competitive market for the collection and processing of recyclable materials that rewards producers who make their products easier to recycle.
