New Opportunities for OWMA Members in 2019

New Opportunities for OWMA Members in 2019

The OWMA will soon announce major changes to the Association committee structure including opportunities for enhanced engagement for OWMA members. The committee structure has been under review and subsequent restructuring under the direction of the OWMA Governance in Leadership committee as part of an overall governance review. Four (4) new ‘super’ committees have been established to engage in the full range of waste sector challenges & opportunities. All current committees, sub-committees, working groups and task forces will be aligned under the mandate of one of the four new committees. New terms of reference for the super committees will be released shortly as well information outlining how OWMA members can engage and serve on a committee. The committees will be active and will assume a more central role in the development of OWMA policy, membership services and membership support.

OWMA members can also expect an expanded webinar series to be initiated and delivered throughout 2019. Traditional events and new educational and networking opportunities are being planned to ensure that OWMA members are up to date, and able to anticipate factors and issues that will impact their organisations.

A new ‘mentoring’ program for young waste sector professionals will be announced and will provide unparalleled access to private sector and municipal leaders for participants. Look for details shortly.

Members should also look for details on the re-branded OWMA Annual Meeting that will now be identified as the ‘Year Ahead Conference” that in addition to a full educational and information-based program, will include a short annual business meeting. A great conference program is nearing completion and we're sure that all members will want to attend this ‘kick off’ event to the coming year.

Stay tuned for more information about the exciting changes in progress at your Association.
